At 18 mos old Cali is demonstrating amazing protection instinct. Recently I had been in bed for about an hour. The dogs started barking. Since I moved to an acreage in the country recently and the dogs are still adjusting to all the wild "critters" running around, I told them to hush, but they kept barking. I got up to investigate, but couldn't see anything. I opened the front door and let Cali and McCoy out. They dashed around the van and I heard "something" crashing through the brush on the other side. A few seconds later I heard somebody scream. Shortly after that Cali came back with a small strip of denim in her mouth. The next morning I discovered that someone had been trying to steal gas from my vehicle.
Three months later, she is growing into that heavy boning and starting to fill out.
She is a very active girl! In this pic she is practicing her "Airs Above the Ground" as she protects the yard from the invading water sprinkle, lol.
Crissy is helping Cali keep the water "under control"!
Now, let's see ya move!

Every night since then Cali has insisted on doing a perimeter check before settling for the night. Again one night I had been in bed a couple of hours and Cali started barking. This time I didn't bother to look, I just let her out the door. She dashed to the van and circled it several times. Then with her nose to the ground she trotted down the driveway toward the road. I followed and called her back when she reached the road. Reluctantly, she gave one little soft "woof" and came back. It was obvious that there was something she wanted to follow. The next evening I discovered that again somebody had been tampering with my gas cap. I will never question Cali's judgement again
"Hiding" with one of her many treasures. Cali will be bred in 2010 and hopefully will produce the same great quality of puppies as her brother Hutch at Sprague's German Shepherds!
