Monami Dark Side of The Moon "Darcie" Black/Tan Longcoat female (Spayed) Born 4/2/1997 Occupation: Retired Therapy Dog, retired backpacker, retired brood bitch.
Darcie was my first GSD. I only intended to breed her once for one puppy to keep. She surprised me by producing blues. At the time of her first litter I had never heard of blues. By the time I realized I loved the color and had to have one, all of her pups were spoken for. I repeated the breeding hoping to get at least one blue for myself........

Darcie and Dooser ( a Golden Retriever) loved to go on backpacking trips with me. The only way I could manage to take the dogs was if they helped to carry the load. So, they carried the things that were weather resistant (they always found mud or water to wade through) and I carried their food. This picture was taken in The San Pedros Parks Wilderness Area in NW New Mexico. |

In her second litter Darcie produced 4 blues ( 3 females and 1 male). By this time I had joined an internet group specifically for Blue and Liver German Shepherds (see links page). I had learned a great deal about the color and was hooked on letting the rest of the world know how wonderful these dogs are. |

After working as a Therapy Dog, backpacking all over West Central Arkansas, NW New Mexico and SW Oklahoma, and raising 15 puppies in two litters, Darcie is now enjoying a well deserved retirement. This was taken May '05 at a friend's home in Nebraska. |
